Getting Wired

First-ever completed Instrument build from scratch and using only minimal power tools.

I have since brought down the height of this bridge.

Using Vellum and clear-drying wood glue to honor Buddy.

My first ever completed wiring job. All circuitry individually selected and installed by myself.

Rhythm bones I made from Pine, Red Oak, and Poplar woods.
I really enjoyed shaping the headstocks into interesting shapes that would work well with string placement. I got a little ahead of myself with the one on the far left. Although it looks a bit Wabi-Sabi it still worked great and has a nice sound.
The middle hand-carved neck above will eventually be a remake of a fretless traditional 5 sting taking a lot of cues form the earliest colonialized versions of teh banjo.

I gave my canjo that I fretted to the standard western scale to my little brother. The other canjo I fretted into a diatonic scale so that my childhood best friend who doesn't play guitar could enjoy strumming around on it.

Below are a digital rough-ups I made to visualize the idea. Above are the current multimedia versions, all hand sketched scale representations of the instruments we used at the earliest band practices for The Arkies.  The logo is screen printed from a handmade diy screen.
